ICS in Indian Valley, Idaho

Author: cinmic

By ALL accounts, our Inner City Slicker Event held at  Marthetta Blakely’s own Songbird Ranch was a HUGE success!

Marthetta assembled an incredible group of Wranglers, Volunteers from her community and she joined forces with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Idaho and  assembled a GREAT group of  “BIGS” and “LITTLES”  to work with.   There were 15 “Littles” that our ICS Team had the opportunity to work with and they were amazing kids.

Pam Markovitz did an outstanding job of coordinating the donations of food for everyone and she also brought two young Slickers all the way from OREGON to participate in the event!   (Thanks Pam!)   Michael offered his expertise, wisdom and guidance throughout the entire weekend and was truly the ‘marathon man’ when it came to operating the Mechanical Bull (aka “The COUGAR”)!

This Slicker event was structured somewhat differently from previous  events in that this event was a two-day event and everyone camped for the entire weekend at the Songbird Ranch.  Michael, Marthetta and the Wranglers & Volunteers spent two full days helping these kids understand there are people in this world they can Trust.   They taught them the value of keeping your word and they learned about Honesty, Respect, Courage and Hope and….the transformation was remarkable.

There’s something so powerful that happens when you combine horses, cowboy ethics & the cowboy way of life with a group of people who have the heart, compassion and  commitment to making a difference in the life of a child, and that’s what happened under the sunny Idaho skies at the Songbird Ranch…ICS made a difference in the lives of some very special children.

Thanks to ALL the Volunteers, Wranglers and Big Brothers/Big Sisters for making this weekend possible and a very Special Thank You to Marthetta Blakely for bringing ICS to her beloved Songbird Ranch in Indian Valley, Idaho!
